Not every project we take on is an SEO campaign. Our development team builds real, production software, and this Odoo ERP module for a law firm is a good example of what that looks like.
The Problem
The client was tracking FIR numbers, case files, hearing dates, involved parties, and assigned staff across spreadsheets. That approach couldn't scale once cases needed to be filtered by district, city, and review status, and there was no reliable way to see case status at a glance.
What We Built
We built a custom Odoo module called Matters, with structured fields for FIR number, year, file number, case number, institution, petitioner, and respondent. On top of the raw data, we added:
- Jurisdiction filtering: district and city-level filters so staff can find relevant cases instantly.
- Status pipeline: a clear Pending to Finish workflow replacing informal status tracking.
- Reviewer assignment: assign-to and reviewed-by fields tracked directly on each case record.
Why Odoo
Odoo gave us a solid ERP foundation to customize rather than building case management from scratch. That meant faster delivery and a system the client's team could extend later without needing a developer for every small change.
The Outcome
The firm now has a searchable, filterable case management system where case ownership and status are always clear, something spreadsheets could never reliably provide.
